InMage Systems Announces Support for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
DR-Scout Strengthens Organizational Collaboration by Providing Continuous Protection for SharePoint Data
ORLANDO, FL – STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD - April 8, 2008 – InMage Systems®, Inc. (www.inmage.net) today announced support for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, the leading collaboration technology used by organizations to increase business process efficiency and employee productivity. InMage’s flagship solution, DR-Scout, delivers continuous data protection (CDP) for SharePoint in a single solution comprising both continuous local backup and disaster recovery. With InMage’s announced support for SharePoint, leading organizations can leverage DR-Scout within their collaboration infrastructure to maintain continuous data access, eliminating costly outages and the potential for data corruption and loss.
“The rapid growth of SharePoint users and corresponding data, as well as the reliance on SharePoint as a high performance collaboration platform, has heightened the need to adequately protect SharePoint-related resources," said Rajeev Atluri, CTO and senior vice president of engineering, InMage Systems. “DR-Scout delivers continuous data protection and availability for SharePoint environments in a unified solution. Streamlined replication that is based on block-level differences and real-time data changes eliminate the risk of data loss that can occur between traditional backups and snapshots."
With DR-Scout, the SQL back-end databases behind SharePoint are continuously protected and recoverable in case of a failure or natural disaster. One of DR-Scout’s most innovative features is its ability to provide both point-in-time and event-based restorations. Businesses can tag event bookmarks and use them for fast recovery and failover point selection. On an automated basis, SharePoint can failover to a local or remote target recovery point in a matter of minutes. DR-Scout maintains application and data consistency across multiple SharePoint servers and databases running SQL.
“We built our SharePoint environment to be scalable, so we can add to it as our needs grow," says Tamara Anthony, LAN Administrator for Novant Health, a North Carolina-based integrated healthcare system serving more than 3.5 million people. “I’ve found that DR-Scout is very effective at protecting the SQL back-end databases. We look to leverage InMage’s solution where there are single points of failure in a system, so we can protect that point with real-time data replication and redundant hardware."
