Hitachi Data Systems and InMage Ink Reseller Agreement to Deliver Heterogeneous Replication for Mid-Market Organizations
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - September 1, 2009 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and the only provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions, and InMage Systems www.inmage.com, a leading independent software vendor of disk-based business application recovery solutions for heterogeneous environments, today announced an agreement whereby Hitachi Data Systems will co-brand and resell the InMage Appshot technology. Through the strategic partnership with InMage, Hitachi Data Systems further expands its portfolio of replication and data protection software to meet the operational and economic needs of customers of Hitachi midrange storage systems.
"This is a good strategic move for Hitachi Data Systems and a validation for InMage," said Steve Duplessie, senior analyst and founder, Enterprise Strategy Group. "Most typical recovery solutions available to the midmarket are complex, expensive and proprietary. This agreement will enable Hitachi Data Systems and its partners to compete more effectively in far more opportunities, while also enabling joint customers to meet the strictest RPO/RTO requirements and improve on recovery reliability."
"We're excited to work with Hitachi Data Systems to provide data replication and application recovery solutions that will address the current cost, management and capability challenges facing mid-market data protection," said John Ferraro, CEO, InMage. "Customers deploying our joint solutions will be able to successfully handle the data protection issues exacerbated by high data growth, a widespread problem in our industry today. InMage removes backup windows, provides granular recovery options that minimize data loss on recovery and supports extremely fast and reliable recovery for both data and applications."
InMage solutions combine continuous data protection, remote replication and application failover in a single, easy to deploy and manage platform that provides comprehensive recovery capabilities for midmarket companies. InMage supports rapid, reliable recovery for key enterprise applications including Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint as well as Oracle, MySQL, BlackBerry Server, SAP, and any Windows, Linux or UNIX file system, among others.
"We are pleased to partner with InMage as we look to provide our customers with even more options to protect their data and deliver operational efficiencies to their storage environments," said Brian Householder, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing and Business Development, Hitachi Data Systems. "InMage brings a high degree of application integration, network optimization and automated management, providing compelling recovery and availability benefits to midmarket customers struggling with business continuity problems in heterogeneous environments."
With evolving economic challenges and ever changing business requirements, customers need greater flexibility for their storage infrastructure. The Hitachi midrange portfolio provides a comprehensive set of solutions that deliver an industry first platform with enterprise-class functionality ideally suited midrange environments such as storage virtualization, dynamic tiering and advanced replication. Hitachi Data Systems provides a comprehensive midrange storage portfolio to maximize storage asset investments and optimize operational efficiency and resilience for its customers.
