InMage is Featured Presenter at Silicom Ventures’ Special Forum on Data Protection

InMage’s President and CEO John Ferraro will deliver the keynote presentation, and Chief Strategy Officer Kumar Malavalli, will participate in the panel discussion.

This event will feature insight from the data protection industry’s leaders, innovators and technology visionaries. The continuous demand for storage has been one of the main factors in the growth of the semiconductor and computer industries. Some of the recent developments include the advent of social networking, mobile applications, increasing security threats, virtualization and cloud computing. Mr. Ferraro and Mr. Malavalli will provide insight into these topics for Silicom Ventures’ members alongside panelists Brian Ignomirello, CTO of Americas StorageWorks, Hewlett Packard, and Steve Shattuck, Regional CTO of Hitachi Data Systems, Western Region.

John Ferraro joined InMage in 2006 as President and CEO, responsible for the company's business strategy, execution, and worldwide growth. Prior to joining InMage, Ferraro was the CEO of SeeCommerce and led it to a successful exit with its acquisition by NCR/Teradata. Previous experience includes executive level positions at Sigaba Software, Securant Technologies (acquired by RSA Security), Legato Systems (acquired by EMC), UNISON Software (acquired by IBM), and Computer Associates. Mr. Ferraro currently holds advisory board positions with Uppervision and Snipe Networks.

Kumar Malavalli is widely considered to be a leading visionary in network storage fabrics, the fundamental technology that is behind the multi-billion dollar industry of storage networking, and holds several patents in the Fibre Channel arena. As a co-founder of InMage, he brings this visionary expertise to bear in leveraging IP-based storage network technologies to improve the state of data protection for both local and remote recovery. Prior to InMage, Mr. Malavalli co-founded and was the CTO of Brocade Communications, the leading provider of storage area networking infrastructure, and he served in management and technical capacities at Amdahl, Canstar, and HP. He is a past chairman of the ANSI T11 Technical Committee, was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Council Hall of Fame in 2003, received the prestigious INCITS award for extraordinary leadership in developing numerous SAN industry standards, and established the Kumar Malavalli Endowed Chair in Storage Systems Research at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
