On Demand Demo - Backup and DR for Virtual Environments

Based on the industry-leading continuous data protection (CDP) software , InMage vContinuum provides a unified solution for backup and disaster recovery (DR) of VMware ESX/ vSphere virtual machine (VM) environments. Its simple wizard based graphical user interface (GUI) interacts with VMware vCenter to offer a secure and convenient way to perform site level protection and recovery while being aware of applications within VMs. InMage vContinuum’s block-level asynchronous replication and host-offload architecture is designed for near zero impact on production VMs and to provide scalability for mid-tier and enterprise virtual environments. Built-in compression and WAN acceleration over cost effective IP networks allow users to maintain strict recovery point objectives (RPO), while reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO). vContinuum can also accommodate any underlying hardware, storage architecture (DAS, SAN, NAS) and storage technology (SCSI, iSCSI, FC). It can also extend backup and DR solutions to physical servers through a seamless upgrade to InMage Scout, thus offering a consistent approach to protect, manage and recover virtual and physical environments.

VMware Backup and Replication – Unparalleled Efficiencies

80% faster initial backup/replication over the WAN

Initial backup/replication over the WAN is now up to 80% faster with a new intelligent file system-aware feature that only targets used portions of the VM disk to create an initial copy of data. When the first copy is made, vContinuum 3.0 decreases the amount of data that needs to be backed up, which significantly reduces time, capacity and bandwidth requirements.

Failover Orchestration for Multi-Tier Applications

Providing the fastest recovery of applications spanning multiple servers available

Failover orchestration for multi-tier applications is a new enhancement feature in vContinuum 3.0. The multi-tier sequencing policies can reliably recover applications spanning multiple servers in seconds. Recovery can be synchronized to the same time or application-consistent bookmark; and multi-fold RTO benefits for site level failovers.

Non-Disruptive Site-Level Disaster Recovery Testing

Zero impact to production

DR testing is a vital task for organizations today, but most fail to conduct DR testing frequently or thoroughly due to impacts on production. InMage vContinuum can perform isolated DR tests with zero impact on production, and even without pausing backup or replication. This is made possible by retargeting the VMs to an isolated network. To perform DR testing without impacting on-going replication vContinuum uses a snapshot based approach. This workflow creates a second copy of the target VMs for recovery in an isolated network. Once testing and validation is complete, the snapshots are simply deleted to reclaim target storage.

Protect and Recover at the vCenter Level

Shorten deployment times, simplify management, enhance security

vContinuum is tightly integrated with VMware vCenter to discover, protect and recover at the vCenter level. This significantly shortens deployment times, simplifies management and enhances security.

Other highlights include:

  • Backup quickly, reliably and continuously with absolutely NO backup windows
  • Replicate to remote sites with near zero RPO and best-in-class RTO
  • Push button failover to remote sites for speedy Disaster Recovery
  • Scalable host off-load architecture with very low I/O impact on production VMs
  • Instantaneous application consistent and granular recoveries
  • Minimize target storage requirements with Sparse Retention and capacity optimizations
  • Seamless upgrade to protect both Virtual and Physical environments
